Shane Portfolio Joins Charter as SVP, Network Engineering and Technology

STAMFORD, Conn. –  Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHTR) today announced that former Comcast executive Shane Portfolio has been named Senior Vice President, Network Engineering & Technology. Additionally, the Product & Technology organization promoted Gary Koerper to Senior Vice President, Emerging Technology, and Mike Baldino to Senior Vice President, Data Platforms. The appointments are effective immediately and based in the Denver area.

Portfolio will oversee the architecture and engineering for Charter’s core access network infrastructure, reporting to Justin Colwell, Executive Vice President, Connectivity Technology. Koerper will focus on researching and assessing next generation technologies that can accelerate and support Charter’s priorities and will also report to Colwell. Baldino will lead a team responsible for creating and operationalizing access to data sets within the Product & Technology organization and will continue to report to Jodi Robinson, Charter’s Executive Vice President, Digital Platforms.

Portfolio, a cable industry veteran with 26 years’ experience with Comcast, began his career as a customer representative and rose through the ranks to hold a number of senior-level engineering and network operations roles. He most recently served as the Comcast’s Senior Vice President of Field Operations Engineering, leading the engineering and network services organization that maintained the content delivery network, core network and internal and public cloud platforms. Previously, Portfolio served as Senior Vice President of Technical Operations and Engineering for Comcast’s West Division and Regional Vice President of Engineering for the company’s California region. Portfolio earned a Bachelor of Science at Metropolitan State University of Denver in computer information systems and management science, and master’s degrees in organizational leadership from Regis University and in telecommunications from the University of Denver. He also served in the U.S. Army for 14 years.

Charter Promotes Product and Technology Executives Koerper and Baldino

Koerper has more than 25 years’ experience developing technology and businesses in the wireless communications, semiconductor and media industries. Since joining Charter in 2018, he has served as Group Vice President, WiFi and Connected Home, developing Spectrum’s Advanced WiFi platform which enables visibility and management of Spectrum’s home networks. Prior to Charter, he was SVP of Video Product Development at Comcast where he and his team received Technical Emmys for the creation of integrated video and mobile experiences. As CTO of Motorola Mobility, he was responsible for the development and commercialization of WiMax technology with Sprint and 3GPP-LTE with Verizon. In between senior roles at Fortune 100 companies, he has been a founder and CEO at multiple technology start-ups in wireless and mobile media. Koerper holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Science in electrical engineering and an MBA at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an LGO (Leaders for Global Operations) Fellow.

Baldino, now in his sixth year with Charter, most recently served as Group Vice President, Data Platforms. In addition to his new responsibilities, he will continue to oversee his software development and data functions within the Digital Platforms group. Baldino joined the company in 2016 as Vice President, Product Intelligence after spending 12 years at Accenture, where he worked with several clients in the telecommunications industry, including Charter, Time Warner Cable, Verizon, Level 3 Communications and DirecTV. Baldino is a graduate of Iowa State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in management information systems.
